About This Blog
MTF is a personal blog by a Finnish-Filipino couple which aims to provide insights to people who wish to know how it is living and settling down in Finland like Finns from the perspective of a migrant. The views are mainly personal and are drawn from our own experiences which may be untrue to some. If you enjoy reading our blog, keep reading and we wish you enjoy it as much as we do, otherwise please skip and we wish you find the right information you need, we`re cool with it.
Hi, I’m Seppo!
I teach electrical technical installation and maintenance at a vocational school, where I help students build the skills they need for real-world electrical and telecom work. My background is in Electronics and Communications Engineering, and before stepping into teaching, I spent years working with Finnish telecommunications companies. That experience gave me a deep understanding of electrical systems, networks, and maintenance—things I now love passing on to my students.
Hi, I’m Marie!
I am a language and skills coach. Prior to moving to Finland, in 2021, I teach basic English /IELTS and Tagalog language to non-native speakers for 7 years . I hold a degree in Sociology, a masters degree in Public Administration and a certificate in teaching.
In Finland, I have found a new life, new hobbies and new ways to connect with people. With the language barrier at its highest in the beginning, blogging keeps me mentally active. Off from work and studies, I spend time beekeeping, gardening, crafting, blogging and collecting treasures from the forest which I consider a therapy for my boredom and curiosity.
