December calendar, or joulukalenteri (Christmas calendar) is very common to see among people during this holiday season. It is in my opinion a very interesting way to wait for Christmas time especially among kids. We don’t have this kind of tradition in the Philippines, or at least I have never seen it before. It would be a good way to treat kids in the villages like the old times, when I get to do it yearly.
In Finland, a christmas calendar is a special countdown to Christmas. Traditionally, it’s a calendar with little windows for each day of December up to the 24th (Christmas Eve, which is the main celebration in Finland). Behind each window, you might find a small treat, a picture, or even a surprise activity. These calendars are meant to bring joy and build anticipation for the holiday season.

Who says christmas calendar is just for kids? 🙂 Everywhere I go and shop, in Finland there are a lot of christmas calendars of different sizes and contents. You can find pretty much everything you need to surprise your love ones with the things that interest them.
